Release for MacOS 12 (Monterey)+ and M1+ Processors
I’ve received many requests for a version of VidSync that works with the latest MacOS, including the Apple’s new proprietary M1, M2, M3, … processors. As of 2025 it is still working well on MacOS 15.2 Sequoia, and that’s unlikely to change with upcoming OS versions. I got all important features working and upgraded to the new architecture (while maintaining backward compatibility with Intel-based Macs), but a few minor glitches remain.
The “portraits” feature, which allows you to save internal screenshots of things (like individual fish) linked to objects in the object-event measurement hierarchy, is currently disabled because Apple really ripped out the whole infrastructure I had used to build that feature. However, I’m not aware of anyone besides myself ever needing or using that specific feature.
I’m releasing this imperfect version because it should still work for 99% of applications.
Newest version: VidSync 1.72
Outdated release
This version requires OS X 10.9 or later, tested up to 10.15. Apple’s OS changes eventually broke it. If you’re on older OS versions on an Intel-based Mac, it might still work fine. It did have the portraits feature working.
Older, complete version: VidSync 1.661.zip
Manually unzip and move to Applications. You may need to right-click and choose “Open” to override Apple’s security warnings.
If you need an even earlier version than this for some unusual reason, contact me.
